Quick Contact

At Scottish Wood, we sell a wide range of hardwood offcuts, turning blanks, burrs, and other interesting pieces that are perfect for smaller projects. Whether you’re making your first chopping board, trying woodturning for the first time, or looking for a unique piece of timber for a special project, there’s usually something worth discovering in our timber shop.

The projects below show just some of the ways our customers use timber from Scottish Wood. From chopping boards and kitchen utensils to clocks, signs, bowls, carvings, lamps and other handmade items, there are endless possibilities for turning a small piece of timber into something unique.

Because our stock comes directly from our sawmilling operations, the selection changes all the time. Every visit is different, and you never quite know what interesting piece might be waiting on the shelf.

Hardwood boards, turning blanks, offcuts, and burrs

We stock a wide selection of boards, burrs, blanks, and offcuts, and are one of the biggest stockists of hardwoods in Scotland. If you can’t visit us in person, we also sell a small selection of our product online, delivered throughout the UK.

All our hardwood timber is kiln-dried before sale. This improves stability and makes the timber more suitable for indoor projects, reducing the risk of movement and cracking once you project is complete.

If you don’t need kiln-dried material, we also stock fresh and seasoned softwood material – perfect for craft projects like bird boxes and outdoor benches.

What we do best – timber with character!

At Scottish Wood we specialise in homegrown hardwoods. Scottish hardwoods are full of natural character and individuality – and the level of character found in the boards we sell is one of the things that makes us stand out from the mainstream timber industry.

Live edges, natural edges, waney edges

Straight edges on timber are extremely versatile – and we sell a lot of straight edge options in our shop and online; but you can buy straight edges from loads of places! With us, you can find boards and offcuts in a huge variety of shapes: straight edge, waney edge; live edge; one of each; natural edges all around… We’ve got something of everything, and each piece is unique and full of character.
