Online Shop Terms and Conditions

By placing an order through the website, you agree to be bound by the terms below.

1. About Us

We are a Scotland-based timber business selling timber boards and offcuts both in person and online.

Business details:

  • Full business name: Dynamic Woods – Scottish Wood Limited
  • Trading name: Scottish Wood
  • Address: The Woods, Inzievar; Oakley; Dunfermline; Fife; KY12 8HB
  • Contact number: 01383 851328
  • Contact email: enquiries@scottishwood.co.uk

2. Products and Descriptions

We take great care to ensure that all product descriptions, measurements, and photographs are as accurate and representative as possible.

However, timber is a natural material, and variations in grain, colour, figure, knots, and character are to be expected. Photographs are provided for guidance only, and colours may appear differently on screen. Minor variations do not constitute a fault.

3. Pricing and VAT

All prices shown in our online shop are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.

Postage and packaging costs are included in the listed price unless explicitly stated.

We reserve the right to amend prices at any time, but the price charged will be the price shown at the time of your order.

4. Orders and Payment

All orders must be paid for in full before dispatch.

We accept payments by:

  • Credit and debit card
  • PayPal
  • Google Pay
  • Bank transfer
  • Card payments made over the phone

Any specially requested or reserved items that are not paid for within 24 hours may be returned to stock if we have been unable to contact you.

Where additional, mutually agreed upon charges apply (for example machining or preparation work), these charges must be paid in advance before work begins.

5. Stock Availability

Stock sold through the website is automatically removed from inventory once purchased. However, we also sell the same timber stock in person at our onsite timber shop.

In-person sales are removed from the online shop manually (usually within one hour). On rare occasions, an item purchased online may have already sold in store and not yet been removed from the website.

If this happens, we will contact you as soon as possible and issue a full refund if an agreed upon replacement piece can’t be found.

6. Delivery

Delivery charges are included within the product price, unless otherwise labelled.

We deliver to mainland UK and Northern Ireland.
We do our best to keep our delivery prices fair, but deliveries to the Scottish Islands may incur further charges. Please reach out to us before ordering so that we can find the best quote. Scottish Island orders that have not been pre-arranged may incur additional charges prior to dispatch.

For in-store collection, please contact us before ordering for a re-quote minus postage and packaging. We can also combine delivery on multiple items –please contact us so that we can calculate the new shipping fees.

We aim to dispatch orders promptly once payment has been received. Subject to payment, orders are normally processed within 3 working days, with a maximum of 6 working days during busy periods.

Estimated dispatch times are provided for guidance only and are not guaranteed.

Delivery times may vary depending on location, carrier availability, weather conditions, or the size and weight of the timber.

7. Store Collection

If you wish to collect your order from our premises, please contact us before placing your order so that we can provide a revised price excluding postage and packaging.

Collection is available during our regular opening hours.

8. Cancellations and Returns

Orders can be cancelled or returned within 14 days of receiving your goods – this is in accordance with your consumer rights.

Items returned within this period will be refunded in full, including the standard outbound delivery charge. Upgraded delivery charges (e.g. expedited shipping) will not be included in refund value.

Upon receipt of returned goods, your refund will be processed within 10 working days.

There is no charge for returned goods, but the buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipping, and the suitable postage and packaging of the product(s). Online products can also be returned in-store.

For your protection, we recommend using a tracked delivery service.

Products that are returned must be in their original purchase state. If a product has been altered in any way (such as trimmed, marked, or treated), it is no longer eligible for return.

If a product was specially modified by us at the request of the buyer (such as changes in length, width, or thickness), then these goods are considered final sale and cannot be returned.

9. Faulty or Damaged Goods

If your order arrives damaged or faulty, please notify us within 48 hours of delivery, providing photographs of the damaged product/packaging.

10. Privacy

Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Separate Terms

These terms apply only to purchases made through our online shop.

Separate Terms and Conditions apply to our sawmill and onsite timber shop, which can be viewed on this same page, under their corresponding headers.

12. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Scotland, and the Scottish courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Once processing has started, orders cannot be amended.

All orders are subject to availability of timber and operational capacity.

3. Pricing and payment

All prices are in GBP (£) and are subject to VAT at the applicable rate.

Full payment is required before processing begins for all sawmill orders.

Our preferred method of payment is bank transfer. We also accept debit/credit card payments in the shop or over the phone. We reserve the right to set limits on card transaction values for larger orders.

We reserve the right to decline certain payment methods at our discretion.

Delivery can be arranged at additional cost. Delivery times are estimates only and may be affected by factors outside our control.

7. Timber Characteristics, Tolerances, and Appearance

Timber is a natural material and may vary in colour, grain, knots, figure, and other characteristics. These natural variations are not considered defects.

All sawn timber is subject to standard industry tolerances. Minor dimensional variations may occur as part of the milling process.

Timber may move, twist, shrink, expand, or surface check after cutting due to moisture content and environmental conditions. We are not responsible for movement or changes that occur after collection or delivery.

Where species, grade, or finish are agreed, timber will be supplied in accordance with that agreement, subject to natural variation.

8. Customer-Supplied Timber (Exceptional Circumstances)

As a general rule, we do not process customer-supplied timber. However, in the rare event that we agree to do so, the following conditions apply:

  • We do not guarantee yield, recovery rate, or final volume.
  • We are not responsible for internal defects, contamination, embedded metal, or foreign objects within the timber.
  • The customer is responsible for any damage caused to blades or machinery as a result of hidden defects or foreign materials.

All customer-supplied timber is processed at the customer’s risk.

9. Cancellations

Orders may be cancelled prior to processing, subject to Section 4 (Deposits).

Once processing has begun, cancellation is not permitted and deposits are non-refundable.

Custom-cut timber is non-returnable and non-refundable unless faulty.

10. Liability

Scottish Wood is not responsible for damage or injury caused by incorrect handling, storage, machining, or use of timber after collection or delivery.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from sawmill orders.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes liability where it cannot be limited or excluded under Scottish law.

11. Privacy

Any personal information collected in relation to your order will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Personal data may be shared with third-party service providers only where necessary to fulfil delivery or other services.

12. Amendments

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will not affect orders that have already been confirmed and paid for.
